Indesign class activity

Today in class we utilized Adobe Indesign to lay out our two page spread. My experience using the software was very new. I felt like it was easy but yet hard; almost overwhelming to figure out since it has so many various settings. I feel like i can adapt to Adobe very quickly though. I like The Adobe Indesign because it gives me more opportunity's to show aspects and conventions of my magazine such as photo edits, fonts, designs, layouts, etc. If i do not end up using the Adobe Indesign program i will use Microsoft Publisher. Microspoft publisher is similar to the Adobe Indesign program but doesn't offer the same techniques and styles as the Adobe program.

Marketing Plan

Based on my research from other similar magazines i have develop various marketing plans for my magazine such as: Sponsoring an event or being an vendor at an event- this will give me an opportunity to discuss face to face what is included in the magazine and sell my magazine. Produce an tv/radio advertisement- this will give an different outlook to consumers if they see and or hear something that they are interested in. Digital/online (social media and email)- with social media such as Facebook, Instagram and Snapchat give variety to age groups and interest. With email we can email the consumer an subscription or deal for the magazine or various advertisements that intrigue the consumer to produce the magazine. Can advertise on a billboard; for example the score board at football games. During halftime or intermission advertisements can go across the screen. One of those advertisements can be an ad to purchase my magazine.

My target audience

Age- 13-45 Gender- male or female Geography- school zones/districts/citys income level- middle class education level- high school or educational adults  personal interests- that have been through marching band and color guard or have interest in an instrument. I will be appealing the equipment/instruments, experiences, and opinions.       Vogue Sport Style: target audience of Vogue magazine is teens or adults which is similar to my target audience. They market their product by selling advertisements either online using various social media platforms such as Snapchat or Instagram, billboards, emails, and products. Persuasive techniques being used are various color and fonts, different font size, and catching subheadings. Model is focused on the cover similar to my magazine. Forms of media used are digital and billboards. Halftime Magazine- Sights Sounds and Spirit of the Marching Arts: Have similar target audiences since their magazine and m...

Midterm feed back and revisions

Replace cover with different picture of somebody else instead of myself. Text box font and color fill can be changed to be more equivalent with title theme. Contents color can be changed, as well as different photo crop for table of contents. Need to get more pictures of upcoming winter season as well as interviews to put in article.

Use of conventions

My product challenges conventions of my genre because not everybody knows or has heard of Color guard; they just know it for the "backup dancers of the marching band" or the marching band itself. With my magazine you get to gain knowledge of marching band and color guard. It represents social groups of young athletes or aspiring musicians/spinners or just musicians.
